Knowing When to Fight and When to Negotiate

Attorney Cole Presnell brings nearly a decade of courtroom and negotiation experience to the Law Office of Andrew Bryant. Having practiced along Colorado’s Front Range for the past eight years, Cole has built his career representing people facing difficult situations—first as a public defender and then for approximately six years in private practice.

Cole is an experienced negotiator who understands that achieving the best result for a client does not always mean taking a case to trial. It means knowing when to fight, when to negotiate, and how to recognize an opportunity for a better outcome. Throughout his criminal defense career, Cole has negotiated hundreds of cases, including DUI charges reduced to DWAI or lesser offenses and serious felony cases resolved at significantly reduced levels. In one case, he successfully negotiated a Drug Felony 1 down to a Drug Felony 3, helping his client avoid the potential prison consequences associated with the original charge.

Biography Overview

Before practicing law, Cole served in the United States Army, where leadership and service were central to his career. He spent much of his time training soldiers and helping those under his leadership develop successful careers without losing sight of their lives and families outside of the military. That same philosophy carries into his legal practice today. Cole understands that his clients have careers, children, relationships, and futures that can all be affected by a legal case. His goal is not simply to resolve the case in front of him, but to protect as much of his client’s life as possible in the process.

Cole also brings a unique perspective to his domestic relations practice. As a divorced father, he has personally experienced many of the pressures that accompany divorce, parenting time, and child support matters. He understands that family law cases can be deeply personal and that the decisions made during them can affect a parent and their children for years to come. That perspective allows Cole to approach his clients with both practical legal guidance and a genuine understanding of what they are experiencing.

Cole discovered his passion for criminal defense while attending the University of Oregon School of Law, where he worked on DUI and assault cases through a clinic with the Public Defender’s Office in Eugene, Oregon.

Outside of work, Cole is a devoted sports fan. He cheers for Oregon Ducks football and the Buffalo Bills and can frequently be found at Colorado Rockies games—although his loyalty still belongs to the Cincinnati Reds.
