Biography Review

Aliyah earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law, where she served as President of the Cultural Wellness Coalition, a diversity, equity, and advocacy organization. She was also a member of the school’s Trial Team and was honored with Ms. JD’s prestigious Limitless Leadership Award—a national recognition highlighting her academic excellence, leadership in advancing gender equity, and commitment to empowering future generations of women in the legal profession. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies, graduating magna cum laude. Her strong foundation in communication enables her to connect with clients on a personal level and advocate effectively—whether in the courtroom or at the negotiating table.

Before entering private practice, Aliyah served as a Deputy District Attorney in Colorado’s 4th Judicial District. In that role, she managed a caseload of approximately 600 cases including domestic violence, DUIs, assault, harassment, child abuse, and more. She led numerous jury trials to verdict and gained extensive experience in pre-trial litigation, plea negotiations, and courtroom advocacy. Her early legal experience includes working at Griese Law Firm, P.C. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, working on high-conflict custody disputes, divorce matters, and criminal defense cases—laying the groundwork for her calm, strategic, and client-focused approach to emotionally charged legal issues.

Outside of the courtroom, Aliyah enjoys spending time with her husband and traveling the world with him, riding motorcycles, working out, successfully launching and running a chocolate-covered strawberry business, cooking, and making memories with her family.
