Elizabeth Vanatta is a highly respected family law attorney and seasoned litigator, bringing over 12 years of diverse legal experience to her practice. Known throughout the legal community as a zealous, strategic, and compassionate advocate, she has built her career on fighting for justice and guiding clients through some of life’s most challenging moments.

Today, Mrs. Vanatta continues her work with unwavering dedication, providing exceptional representation to clients navigating divorce and family law challenges. Outside of her practice, she is a devoted mother, runner, triathlete, mountaineer, and proud spouse of a United States Army Reserves Officer.

Biography Overview

During law school, Mrs. Vanatta worked for a general civil law firm in San Diego where she drafted wills, trusts, and business formation documents while assisting with major construction defect and probate litigation. After passing the Bar Exam in Colorado, Mrs. Vanatta began her formal legal practice as a Deputy District Attorney. During her years in prosecution, she secured convictions in significant cases involving drug distribution, domestic violence, and child abuse.

In 2018, Mrs. Vanatta transitioned into civil litigation where she handled complex contract disputes, construction defect cases, debt collections, and bankruptcy.

Next, drawn back to serving vulnerable families, Mrs. Vanatta accepted a position with TESSA as in-house counsel for survivors of domestic violence, which led to her transition into a full-time domestic relations case load. Following the implementation of the legal services department at TESSA, Mrs. Vanatta went back into general practice as a family practitioner where she has focused on high-asset divorce cases and contested custody proceedings. Mrs. Vanatta now specializes in business valuation and planning, marital and separate estate evaluations, income and asset division analyses, and civil and courtroom procedure, as well as the facets of family planning and the nuanced presentation of domestic violence.

Mrs. Vanatta’s demonstrated success and dedication to her practice earned her the distinction of 2022 Litigator of the Year by the American Institute of Trial Lawyers as well as the 2023 Ben S. Wenkleden Outstanding Young Attorney Award. Deeply committed to the legal community, Mrs. Vanatta has also held a wide variety of positions with the Colorado Bar Association, including President of the 16th Judicial Bar Association, Secretary of the 4th Judicial Bar Association, Board Member for the 4th Judicial Bar Association, and Chair of the Family Law Section from 2021 to 2023.
