Personal Commitment & Non-Traditional Approach

Quite simply, and right from the start, clients understand Heather Atkinson takes their case as personally as they do.  Her communications with opposing parties introduce new perspectives, provide compelling context, and outline achievable pathways to resolution.

Heather has applied her distinctive blend of attentiveness, integrity, and formidable lawyering to champion the causes of her clients for almost a decade.  Whether inside of the courtroom or sitting side by side in the conference room, her meticulous preparation and client-centered strategies secure client objectives.  Her clients would describe her as being “strategic” and “curious;” she identifies issues well before the client even knows there is a problem.

Biography Overview

Heather was raised in Gainesville, Florida, and graduated as a salutatorian in her high school class. She attended the University of Florida, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She subsequently attended the University of Maine School of Law, where she served as the editor-in-chief of the law review and received several distinguished legal writing awards.

Heather commenced her legal career as an assistant state attorney in the 5th Circuit in Ocala, Florida. She prosecuted misdemeanor and traffic offenses, taking numerous cases to trial before a jury.

She was promoted to Circuit Court in under a year’s time and began prosecuting a host of felony offenses. Her wide range of felony trial experiences encompasses burglary trials, drug trafficking trials, and vehicular homicide trials.

Following her government service, Heather represented criminal defendants in a variety of misdemeanor and felony charges. She then represented civil clients who had been injured, obtaining seven-figure jury awards far in excess of the settlement offers made prior to trial. These verdicts were noted in publications across the state.
